Maldives Secures Six Prestigious Nominations for the World Travel Awards 2026 – Indian Ocean Category

The Maldives has earned six nominations in the Indian Ocean category of the World Travel Awards 2026, reinforcing its position as a leading global tourism destination. The nominations span multiple categories that reflect the nation's strengths across different travel segments and sustainability initiatives.

The six nomination categories are: Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2026, Indian Ocean's Leading Beach Destination 2026, Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination 2026, Indian Ocean's Leading Green Destination 2026, Indian Ocean's Leading Honeymoon Destination 2026, and Indian Ocean's Leading Tourist Board 2026.

The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, represents the most prestigious honours programme in the global travel and tourism industry. The Maldives has a strong track record with these awards, having won Indian Ocean's Leading Destination and Best Spa Destination annually from 2020 through 2025, along with numerous other accolades across various categories.

The public voting phase is now underway, with the deadline set for August 7th, 2026. Interested voters can cast their ballots through the official World Travel Awards website using dedicated voting links for each category.

The Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony will take place on September 27th, 2026 at CROSSROADS Maldives, a leisure destination located approximately 15 minutes by boat from the capital's international airport.
