Vietjet to Fly Ho Chi Minh City to Malé via Colombo from 5 December
The Vietnamese carrier will operate three return flights a week with Airbus A320 aircraft, stopping in Sri Lanka in both directions.

Vietjet will begin flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Malé on 5 December, linking Vietnam’s largest city with the Maldives through a stop in Colombo.
The Vietnamese carrier opened ticket sales for the route on 8 October. It will operate three return flights a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using Airbus A320 aircraft.
The service is not non-stop. Flights call at Colombo’s international airport in each direction before continuing to Malé or Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietjet said tickets are on sale for all sectors of the route. These include Ho Chi Minh City–Maldives, Ho Chi Minh City–Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka–Maldives. The airline’s Maldives booking page lists fares from both Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo to Malé.
The airline described the routing as a way for passengers to combine visits to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. It also said the service would give travellers from the Maldives a route to Ho Chi Minh City and onward connections across Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region on its network.
Launch Sale Ends Today
Vietjet first announced the Maldives service on 6 October in a release listing new routes opening for sale this month. The others were Hanoi–Almaty, Hanoi–Prague, Ho Chi Minh City–Angeles/Clark and Ho Chi Minh City–Chiang Mai.
To mark the launches, the airline is running a three-day sale across its domestic and international network. It ends at 23:59 on 10 October Vietnam time, which is 21:59 in the Maldives.
During the sale, Eco tickets start from VND0 and Deluxe tickets are discounted by 20%. Both exclude taxes and fees and apply to travel between 8 October 2026 and 30 September 2027. Vietjet said the offers do not apply to certain peak travel periods.
The release did not set out a separate fare for the Malé route.
Award Presented in the Maldives
The route announcement follows Vietjet’s recognition at the World Travel Awards gala for Asia, Oceania and the Indian Ocean, held at CROSSROADS Maldives on 27 September.
The airline was named “Asia’s Leading Airline Brand 2026”. According to Vietjet’s release on the award, World Travel Awards winners are chosen through votes from industry professionals, travellers and consumers.
Chief executive Nguyen Thanh Son said in that release that Vietjet was “repositioning itself as a leading hybrid airline”.
