Women's Development Committee vote mirrors the national swing

Results from the Women's Development Committee ballot, held alongside Saturday's local council elections, show the Progressive National Congress on 100 of 226 reported seats, with the Maldivian Democratic Party on 83 and independents taking the remainder.

The WDC vote is often read by strategists as a quieter version of the island-level mood. Its message on Saturday was not far from the council ballot's.
