Foreign and defence ministers arrive in New Delhi for high-level talks
A recalibration of Male's tone toward its closest neighbour — and toward the rupee line that has kept the rufiyaa afloat.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defence arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for a two-day visit that officials on both sides described as the most substantive high-level contact since the government took office in November 2023.
The visit marks a visible shift from the 'India Out' rhetoric of late 2023, and is understood to have focused on the rupee-rufiyaa swap line, maritime security cooperation, and the next tranche of the Thilamalé bridge.
