Heroic Resort Worker Dies Saving Drowning Tourist

A heroic act of bravery turned tragic on Thursday when a Maldivian man from Hithadhoo, Addu City, Faisal (39y) lost his life while rescuing a drowning tourist at Centara Grand Island Resort and Spa in ADh. Atoll.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 am, as the 39-year-old resort worker bravely jumped into the island’s waters to save a tourist struggling to swim. Despite his successful rescue effort, the man himself was overcome and drowned.

According to the police, the man was initially reported to be receiving treatment for a drowning incident. However, the Dhangethi Health Center confirmed to authorities that he was already deceased upon arrival.

The rescued tourist is reported to be in good health and is recovering well, as confirmed by the police.
