RaajjeTV's telethon funds handed over to Maldives Red Crescent
Raajje Television has handed over the funds collected through the “Chemical Warehouse Fire Telethon" held to assist those affected by the tragic fire that broke out in Henveiru-ward of capital city Malé on Friday.
The telethon was hosted from 21 – 22 September and the initiative had the purpose to assist all the families affected by the fire on Abadhah Fehi Magu.
The private TV station collected a total of MVR 216,474 through the telethon, through bank accounts and a fund box opened at it office.
Funds were received by Aishath Noora Mohamed, Secretary General of Maldives Red Crescent at a small ceremony on Monday evening. The ceremony was joined by RaajjeTV’s Managing Director and Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Saleem, State Minister for Infrastructure and the station's Chairman Akram Kamaludeen as well as its senior management and staff.
Speaking at the ceremony, MD Saleem stressed that having lost its studio to a fire once, the station’s staff is some of those who will feel the loss and pain of a similar incident very closely.
