Dine-in services at restaurants to resume in July
Cafe and restaurants will be allowed to re-open from July 1, the National Emergency Operations Centre has revealed.
Male' city was placed on a strict lockdown on April 15 after the frst local transmission case of COVID-19 was identified in the Maldives.
During a press conference held Thursday night, Health Ministry's Assistant Director Aminath Shaina said several lockdown measures will be relaxed from Monday onwards. However, cafes and restaurants can only offer takeaway and delivery services, and dine-in services will not be allowed until July 1.
Shaina said gatherings of less than ten people will be allowed from July, and schools, universities and other educational institutes will be allowed to reopen. Government offices will fully open during July.
The Health Ministry also said congregational prayers can be resumed at mosques within July, and that the date will be announced at a later time. The borders of Maldives will be re-opened and tourism will be restarted in July as well.
