The notorious regime in the Maldives would not be able to survive if not for their mutually beneficial relationship with the Maldivian business community. It is the business community that acts as one of the building blocks of the regime, providing them assistance in election campaigns and various social activities. Several businessmen are involved in this partnership with the regime.
